Earlier this week I seriously considered becoming a member of the pro-life group. Got irritated with some ministers, mostly in the New York area who are reportedly urging their congregation to stay home on Election Day and to not vote for with Mitt Romney or Barack Obama. Their beef with Romney is over the Mormon thing. With the president the snub comes because of his stand on gay marriage. Earlier this year Obama supported gay marriage and that has some religious leaders outraged. Their position has me pissed off.
Personally I am not for gay marriage. However I do not want my government in that. Similarly I am not for abortions. I think it is murder. In fact until you can prove that that fetus is not alive inside the mother that unborn child is alive. But, again I do not want the government in that either. With abortion rights you allow the government to dictate then they won't stop there. They will intrude more in my life.
But back to the gay marriage issue. How dare the Black clergy choose THAT particular issue to protest. Mitt Romney has pledged nothing to help people of color or seniors or the poor. He can't even bring us jobs. The only thing he can do is lower taxes for the wealthy. If he gets elected it will mean trouble for the people who are already struggling. If you thought the crime rate was growing now, you haven't seen anything yet as more young people go jobless and grow more desperate.
There are other ways for the clergy to prove their shaky point. Why do I say shaky? I HATE the gay marriage argument. The self righteous love to go to the bible when it comes to the gay issue. I am not gay, but I am gay-tolerant. As for the religious aspects, that is between you and God. But why is it that according to these people God ONLY frowns on homosexuals. Last I recalled there are TEN Commandments in the Bible and people routinely break those. In my experience people go soft on issues they are weak in, meaning thieves tend to be soft on condemning other thieves. I guess a lot of the clergy speaking out have never been in same sex situations so they will go hard on homosexuals. This means they have no tolerance on same sex marriages. Other issues, like adultery go unnoticed. Forget the fact that most politicians lie. Even though the act is frowned upon in the Bible there is no commandment regarding it. Yet the clergy is here to condemn Obama for his stand on it. Mind you, he is not necessarily endorsing it. The man is in a traditional marriage. I think his act was more of a sign of tolerance than anything else.
SO it got me thinking. A lot of conservatives are against gay marriage and also pro-life. As I mentioned earlier abortion IS murder. I chose to be pro-choice for the reasons I mentioned earlier plus I think the female has the right to decide if she wants to keep that child in her for nine months. But, since murder is in the Bible why don't the clergy go after candidates who support abortions? They are in fact supporting murder. Probably because it is politically correct to support women on this issue. If you have a wife or a girlfriend you had BETTER support them on abortion rights. It is also hypocritical. Hey clergy: IF you choose to protest against Obama for the gay marriage issue, don't stop there. Go after pols who are pro-choice. In the meantime I hope you have the resources to assist those people in need if Romney wins the elections
